Best or Liked
What is your goal?
To be the best or to be liked?
Because if you want to be the best, you’re going to have some people who end up not liking you. Who disagree with you.
I’m certainly not the first to say this, to point it out, but it was something I needed to be reminded about recently as I thought about the business I’m building helping accelerators. I am ambitious and competitive and I really, really care about this work we’re doing to help founders be successful. For me, this work is only worth doing if I’m pushing to create the best accelerator model out there.
And I’ll probably get some criticism along the way.
That’s ok. Those critics are not my customers. They don’t need to like what I’m doing.
I’d much rather keep pushing to build the best thing, rather than the thing that is ok enough to be universally liked.
What about you?
Each day, I publish an idea I'm working on, highlights from a founder coaching session, or other tidbits from my work with founders, investors, corporate partners, and accelerators. Check out the Hustle+Fire blog for more.
